Radiology

Radiological imaging for skin cancer is either undertaken at the time of diagnosis or as part of the routine follow up for cancer patients. The imaging required varies from individual to individual. Mr Peach only asks radiologists who routinely deal with skin cancer to perform and report on the scans he requests. These may be ultrasound imaging if nodes are palpable but it is not clear if they are involved with the cancer; CT, MRI and PET CT scans to see if there is any evidence of the cancer having spread to other parts of the body; lymphoscintigraphy as part of the sentinel node biopsy procedure.
